Are You A Pastor During The Pandemic? 2 Ways To Safely Have Church Services

If you are a pastor, then you likely have a dilemma. You want people to come to church but you do not want people getting the virus. Fortunately, there are still ways you can have service safely. Below are two of these ways so you can start getting things set up.

Virtual Worship Service 

One way to have church is using virtual worship. First, decide on the platform you want to use for your services. This is done using video chatting software, online streaming services, and more. You want it to be easy for your church members to join the service. Because of this use, a platform that everyone would have access to that will not cost them money. You can do a search for platforms to help you decide. Some services may be specifically made for Christian church virtual worship or worship for another religion.

You will need to have a tripod, camera, and a camcorder in order to do this service. You will also need to purchase some HDMI cables to set things up. If you do not know how to do this, hire someone to set everything up for you. Next, contact each of your church members and let them know the time you are having the virtual service. You could email everyone, call them, text them, etc. When you first start, ask your members if they can see and hear you well so you know if you need to make changes, such as move your tripod and camera closer. 

Outside Service

You could have an outside service at your church. Your members could stay in their cars to be safe. If they choose to get out, make sure they are at least 6 feet apart. Consider putting up a tent just in case it rains when you are having service. You should not hand out any literature before or after the service, such as a church bulletin. This could be dangerous because germs can easily be passed from the literature. 

Provide masks to people that would like to stand outside. Even people in their cars may want a mask. If you have problems speaking with a mask on, just make sure you are far enough away from your members. If you have a large church, you should use a microphone so everyone can hear you well. 

Talk with your church members and ask them how they would like to have the service to help you decide which option would be best for you.
